Starblitz

Cima Kōgaku Co. Ltd. or Cimako/Ensinor/Clubman/Starblitz, a Japanese company, remains relatively obscure, with limited information available on its history. The company mainly produced lenses for other brands, such as Chinon, Hanimex, Lentar, Photax, and Focal. In addition to manufacturing for these brands, Cima Kōgaku marketed products under its own name, Cimko, and through its virtual brands, including Paragon and Beroflex.

    Partnerships and Notable Products

Beyond producing lenses, Cima Kōgaku collaborated with Topcon, manufacturing both lenses and camera bodies for the brand, such as the Topcon RM 300 series. They produced notable lenses like the AM Topcor 55mm f/1.7 and the Topcor RE 28mm f/2.8 for Topcon, demonstrating a versatile manufacturing capacity that supported a wide range of photographic equipment.

    Innovations and Optical Design Approach

Similar to many industry players of the era, Cimko aimed to design and produce universal optical formulas. These designs could be adapted across different brands and camera mounts, maximizing compatibility with the numerous SLR systems on the market and reaching a broad consumer base. This strategy enabled Cimko to appeal to a wider range of photographers by offering versatile lenses that fit various brands and mounts.

    Market Reach and Brand Philosophy

The Paragon and other Cimko-related brands were targeted at amateur and budget-conscious photographers who valued versatility and affordability. Through partnerships with well-known brands and the production of universal lenses, Cima Kōgaku effectively positioned itself as a reliable source of accessible optics during the heyday of film photography.
