Leica Tri-Elmar-M 16-18-21mm f/4 Asph

WATE - The Leica TRI-ELMAR-M 16-18-21mm ASPH The Leica WATE (Wide Angle Tri-Elmar) is a very good lens for the traveling photographer. Relatively small, it has only a 5mm spread but this narrow range does make a difference for close-up photography (less so for objects at a distance.) Importantly, the quality of the resulting photographs is about the same as you get with the Leica prime lenses - altho it has to be mentioned I have not compared it to the 21mm ASPH. It is not inexpensive but if you are thinking about 2 lenses near this covered range, look at the Tri-Elmar.

perfect match for Sony A7 family sharp to corners at f4 ! no color shift even at 16mm, minimal vignetting. For me replaces not only its range of 16 to 21, but 24 and 28mm as well as it is so sharp that i can easily crop my image from 42mp sony a7rII and still have razor sharp image for a 16x20 print. very compact for travel and street architectural photography It is about half the size of anything in that range in sony e-mount offerings.

Leica Tri Elmar 16-18-21 on A7r performs well The Tri Elmar 16-18-21 performs very well on the Sony A7r with a variety of adapters, including a Tinray Helicoid. This lens is extremely sharp in good light and has a classic Leica feel in background. It has consistent sharpness across the frame in my first couple days of use. It is a pricy lens but is worthy of the Leica label. I shoot the Zeiss Distagon 15mm wide angle and the Leica, although different in feel, has equally pleasant results.
