Loved the old 50-500mm, Love the new one even more! The Optical Stabilization works beautifully. The enables 1) lower light shooting, 2) hand held shooting in more situations, 3) the 2X tele-extender, which must be used with manual focus, is usable with this lens! The sun shade is improved since the older model. Be aware that you should use only Sigma brand filters with this lens, even "sky light", or you can get very bad internal reflection problems.
Awesome lens awesome heavy This lens is unbelievably good with its image stabilization. You can actually hand hold it at 500. It is very heavy and deserves its heavyweight reputation. It's not going to replace any regular lens but when you need a long lens this is a great choice.
Sigma Bigma This is my third Sigma 50m-500mm lens. I absolutely love it. It can even take great close-up shots. Can't beat it for the price!
