Vivitar Series 1 28-105mm f/2.8-3.8

Sharp, Contrasty, Built like a Tank. A classic manual focus lens . Has some flaws on a full-frame body, such as vignetting and poor edge sharpness, but on a cropped sensor it becomes really good. Resolution is great wide open and excellent one stop down. Rather heavy CA on open f-stops. The IQ is very nice. Sharp and contrasty right from f2.8. The lens also has a decent close focus macro capability at the wide setting. This lens is easily the "main tank" of my collection. Its heavy, feels solid, focus is smooth. Bear witness to one of the greatest lenses designed and made in Vivitar's history, a lens that has right fully earned its nickname, 'The Stovepipe.'

Vivitar Series 1 28-105mm lens This is a very bad lens. Photodo rates its MTF as a 1.9 which is worse than virtually any of its competitors. OEM consumer grade zooms will provide significantly better images. And of course, primes would blow it out of the water. Note that for manual focus systems, the Vivitar 28-90mm f2.8-3.5 Series 1 zoom is regarded as a much better optical performer than this lens, has a much better build quality, and sells for about the same price.

very good lens Is a nice lens that let you work with confidence in diferent situations, like EVENTS or Weddings, i s fast in wide open f2.8 and not so slow in tele mode f3.8, considering that many stock lenses in diferent cameras are slower than this one. I'm using it with my NEX-VG10 with very good results. I recomend this lens because is ship and work vey well. (sorry for my english) www.gecofilms.cl
