Superb documentary lens for a variety of applications. I have my own company and I do documentations in the oil gas and technical oriented industries. I also do documentations in connection in connection with a research project for example in the medical apparatus field, in the geological field and in the forensic field. The Canon New FD 50mm f/3.5 Macro lens with extension tube is nothing less than a superb lens for my requirements and gives outstanding image results every time.
A very flexible lens to have around! Well, what can I say? This is one of (the many) lenses I never could afford when film cameras was kind of hot, twenty years ago or so. I don't shoot with film anymore, but I bought one of them Sony NEX digital cameras off of eBay recently. I now find that my old Canon and Nikon lenses "live to fight yet another day", so to speak, through the use of the many adapters (available on eBay for cheap) that can be had for the Sony "NEX" series digital cameras with the E-mount. So getting through the background BS, I also found this Canon 50mm Macro lens on eBay (and actually it's F:3.5), which I had wanted for many long years, but couldn't afford. And now when I finally have it, I find this it flexible enough to have on my Sony "NEX" 5N all the time. The Canon 50mm Macro has the makings of "cornerstone" in MY lens collection at least, because being able to shoot close-ups is one of the most valuable features of this lens I think. And while thinking, I think you should get one too (and an adaper).Read full review
