Derek Gardner 200mm f/3.5 Automatic

Not perfect, but a good value for the money This is considered a "kit" lens for the Sony FS700. I bought it for a used FS 700 that was purchased without a lens... and so needed to buy one separately. I wanted variable focal length, and preferred a motorized zoom. my choices seemed to be between the Sony E PZ 18-200mm lens for $700-800 and the Sony SELP28135G Zoom Lens for $2400. I actually bought the SELP28135G first, but returned it the day i got it. Then I bought the PZ 18-200mm lens. I found the PZ 18-200 to be much more manageable and just as sharp; however, one does sacrifice a true iris ring; and the rising F-stop (as one zooms in) is annoying.

Excellent lens, with an Incredible hidden feature. The is is by far my favorite Sony lens. It is a great all around since it cover the full frame equivalent of a 27-300mm, and if you use clear image zoom you can extend the range to 600mm, meaning you can do everything form landscape, architecture, portraits to sports and wildlife. This is one of two Sony lens for the nex and Alpha line to have active image stabilization while recording video, the active image stabilization is way better that OSS, so much better that you can hand hold your camera at 200mm and still get smooth video. I use this lens all the time for video since it make most of my shots look like a did them with a tripod, including handheld pans and tilts. If could only buy a lens it will be this one. It has its draw backs, since the aperture is slow If you are using to in a low light scenario, but must of the newer cameras you can set your ISO to higher number without getting a lot of noise on you image, a small price to pay for the convenience, and a trade I am willing to make. sony lens 18-200 I expected more of this lens, on the NEX50 camcorder. I don't if a work different camera
