Sharp Lens, but Heavy This thing is a tank. Very heavy. It works like a dream though. Sharp images. Best images I took with it were outdoor using natural lighting. This is my first push-pull lens I have used. Also my first AF zoom lens that has a macro setting. When you push the little silver button and turn it to macro setting, you have to manually focus, but that's just fine with me. I paid too much for this 30 year old lens, after seeing it was cheaper elsewhere - an expensive lesson for me. But, it was a birthday gift for my daughter, who has a Nikon D90. It's amazing this old lens works great on a digital SLR. I want to get one of these lenses for myself now.

Boat Anchor Heavy Old school, bulletproof lens made with a lot of metal. Thus, it is heavy. My DSLR camera (a Nikon D90) is heavy enough by itself when talking hand-held shots, and this adds noticeably to the load. Often found at a bargain price currently, but be prepared for the weight penalty.

Well worth the price. A good value from Nikon. I'm a beginner, so I can't add too much, as far as comparisons go. All I can say is I purchased this zoom lens at a good price, and the pictures speak for themselves. They were taken with Nikon D5200, under bright sun light, near the beach with a lens hood. Shutter speed, aperture and ISO info. were not recorded (sorry), and no filters were used. The only post editing that was done was cropping.
