Olympus Zuiko Digital 50mm f/2 ED Macro

Sharp like a knife! This is one of the sharpest lenses in the Olympus arsenal, and is highly under-rated. It is my "reference lens" when testing other lenses. Amazing that it was designed for 10 megapixel sensors, but it shows additional detail in 50 megapixel high-def images taken with my OM-D E-M1 Mark II. The sharpness alone would give it a "five," but I knocked it down for three things: 1) It has a plasticy feel about it, and the body it is easily scuffed and scratched. I wish it were a metal lens! 2) The hood is vaguely spherical, and it makes the lens roll around in the bag and makes it difficult to handle. 3) Autofocus is slow, and has no range limiter, so it tends to search through its entire range, especially in poorly-lit macro situations. With the proper adapter, it works fine with µ4/3rds bodies, but the auto-focus is even slower on all but the E-M1, because it is designed for PDAF, and most µ4/3rds bodies only to CDAF. Perfect for closeups I got this lens mainly for the macro features and it is everything that I hoped for. I have been taking closeup pictures and they are very sharp. The lens is compact and lightweight so it is easy to take hand held pictures. The auto focus works well with my camera. I highly recommend this lens for taking both standard and macro photographs.

Strong value in a decent Macro lens. Sharp photos. Doubles as a Macro. Lightweight. It complements my E-620 nicely. These lenses are deeply discounted from their original prices when new. I also have a 35 mm macro that I used for a long time on an E-500 body and this lens is superior. Quite a value.
