Sigma DG A 24-105mm f/4 OS HSM

Heavy but truly worth the weight. The Sigma Art 24-105mm has replaced my Nikon 24-120mm VR in my daily use. I primarily shoot events and have had great results with this lens. Sharp throughout the range and even wide open it performs beautifully unlike the Nikon version. Yes the Nikon has more range at the long end but it just isn't as crisp. The OS (Vibration Reduction) is excellent and the focus is fast and exact. I also like the interface to the dock and the updatable firmware that the Nikon lenses just don't have. Color is clear and neutral unlike the Red/Orange bias from the nikons.

Better than the Canon I've owned a few copies of both releases of the Canon version of this lens (24-105 f/4L) and none of them were as sharp or had such great colors throughout the range. The only possible downside to the Sigma is the weight, but hey, you get a ton of range. I've been using this bad boy for street videography and photography and it fits the bill very nicely.

Better than Canon's 24-105mm L Pros: 1) So much sharper Canon's 24-105mm 2) The AF is noticeably faster than the Canon 24-105mm L lens. 3) The price is $300-$400 US dollars cheaper than Canon's version. 4) lens is built solid like a tank 5) zoom ring is bigger and smoother to turn than Canon's zoom ring. Cons: 1) Lens is slightly larger than Canon 24-105 L lens (this may not be a con for everyone) 2) Lens is heavier than Canon 24-105mm L lens (this too may not be a con for everyone)
