Sony AF 100mm f/2.8 Macro

Excellent Macro! In a word...WOW! This has quickly become my go to lens for macro work. I shoot a lot of macro photography. This lens allows me to get very close to the smallest of details of my subject. This holds razor sharp focus very well with minimal aberrations of any kind.

Sony 100mm f/2.8 Lens on Konica Minolta 7D Like: f/2.8 allows more light for higher shutter speeds Dislike: Noisy Slow to focus Uses more battery power than SSM and/or G series lenses Expensive. Does not Continuously autofocus for moving objects. Detail is poor even at full program mode, extra fine, high quality, large images Reason for purchasing - wanted an F/2.8 lens to be able to shoot at higher shutter speeds - birds in flight. Quality of photos - okay but not cropped. Compared to SAL70400 SSM G lens with F/4-5.6 at 70mm - photos shot at same shutter speed are considerably clearer and can be cropped. Camera is 6.1MP Konica Minolta Maxxum DSLR model 7D

Good lens but old design and technology Rebadged older Minolta Maxxum lens. Image quality is wonderful, auto focus is reasonably fast and accurate. I’m using it with my a850 and a77 with no hiccups, it would benefit from SSM but Sony gave up on the Minolta A mount long ago with no desire to support newer A mount digital slr and slt cameras.
