The perfect portrait lens There just isn't a better portrait lens. It is tack sharp, great bokeh, and the large aperture provides the narrow depth of field to provide separation of the subject from background. The lens stays sharp, with minor fall off in the corners, at full aperture. The large aperture also makes it a great low light lens. Construction is pro level, and autofocus is fast and silent. This is one of my primes that always is in my kit.
I waited to long before buying this lens Having a Nikon system and doing almost all my shooting with the Nikon Trinity zoom lenses I kept waiting to buy the primary lenses. First came the 50 mm lens, then the 85 mm was next. It should have been the first lens I bought. I love everything about this lens. Fast and smooth focusing and the lens is tack sharp. This lens is fast becoming my primary, primary lens.
SO happy with my purchase. This lens was worth every penny. From the first time I used it I knew none of my other lenses could compare to the sharpness and bokeh. The images look fantastic, so pleased! I doubt I'll be shooting with anything else this season.
