Nice Lense Pretty good quality of materials and sharp image

Great performance for a low price Great lens. Very good price, and nice build quality. The lens is quite sharp with good colour reproduction. The only fault is a large amount of barrel distortion, but it's something to live with as it's somewhat correctable. The manual focusing works well and is easy, on sony cameras focus leaking helps. If you want something really wide, here it is, way sharper than sigma 12-24

It does not do everything for you - I like that ! It is a jewel, it's not a lens! (kidding) The resolution capabilities of the Samyang 14mm 2.8 are way way beyond anything that you've ever seen on your pictures, unless you have tried those that match this one, and cost 2200 USD. That & its price made it a MUST for me (mainly into landscape photography) Manual focus: is that a problem? Actually, it's surprisingly easy. And being a 14mm lens, correct focus lies wide on the ring. But most of the times you don't even need to "find" focus, while shooting landscapes. Just have it on Infinity. Barrel distortion: I'm even taking panoramas with it, and hand-stiching them in Photoshop, with very good results. There are lens correction profiles for Lightroom (somewhere on the Net) but they are only for full frame - not for crop sensor. The profile for full frame makes shooting architecture one more option for this lens, as it turns out perfect. The hood: I cut a ring of black cardboard to "complete" the hood - then I can handhold Grad ND filters in front of the lens without light spilling into it.
